Dada Lockbook
One of my favorite concept studies, was a small maquette dedicated to the Dada movement, in the early 20th century. The piece is simply a modified book explaining how to pick locks. Beneath a piece of glass, inlaid into the cover, lies a key. Ironically, the key is needed to open the Master lock which prevents the reader from opening the book and exploring its pages. The irony of the piece is, one is unable to open the book without first bypassing the lock, which is impossible to accomplish without first retrieving the key captive within in its pages. It presents an impossible scenario in which the contents of the book would be instrumental in solving the puzzle.
